    Honestly it looks like fun.

Remember fun? We used to have fun with CSI. Back in the days when Grissom called dead bodies ‘You assholes!’ and there was the wacky ways people committed crimes.

*sigh* I actually won’t miss this show anymore. I’m still mad about the lack of CRIME that isn’t MURDER.

  6. janney says:

Yeah, you’re right, CSI could really use some more fun and some non-murder crimes.

but remember, CSI is and stays a drama not a comedy.

:!: lol I wonder who Grissom said, ‘What is the matter with you?!?’ to… lol?

    Elizabeth

Nobody said it had to be dead serious all the time… both “Kiss Kiss Bye Bye” and “Rashomama” had their lighter moments, but they still treated it like a crime (and both were well-written). “Ending Happy”, on the other hand, treated the victim as an object of fun rather than as a victim… a bad movie monster trashing his way through the landscape, complete with bad movie monster music in the background. The victim was there solely for everyone’s amusement. We’ll have to see how this one turns out… hopefully it won’t be “Zombie Ninja Cheerleaders from Outer Space”.

And as far as Grissom - that was from way back in the Pilot… back when he actually had emotions, back when he was dating. He yelled at the corpses in the morgue for ’scaring’ Holly Gribbs, then held her and comforted her. A big lack of that on his part where Sara is concerned.

I won’t miss this show because the writing has gone downhill. It used to be a forensic procedural, where the science and the crime took precedence over the characters - in fact, it was the basis for the series, the reason it became so popular; it was different from the other cop shows out there. Now it’s just another “cop opera”, where the romance and bed-hopping take the lead. Not to mention the fact that as each year goes on, they abuse the characters more and more - especially Sara - in the name of ‘development’. Nothing wrong with doing something with the characters, but lately it’s turned into “The Sara and Grissom Show”.

The upcoming “Who and What” - yet another serial killer… “CSI:” has had more serial killers in the past seven years than the entire country has had in the past 30 years. And yeah, I miss the other crimes too… whatever happened to the arsons, the robberies, the forgeries? What happened to the mystery? Now it’s all about murder and rape. “CSI:” has become… bland. And when Jorja Fox leaves, the best part of the show will be gone. When Billy Petersen leaves - which might be as soon as the end of this season - then the show is dead.

I don’t see how the show could live if Billy Petersen leaves the show….He’s the head caracter…

    Sara Score: 3

Okay, her airtime was barely worth a 2… but the brief conversation with Greg was worth the entire episode.

They showed this after the wrong holiday - it should have been a Thanksgiving episode, because it was a real turkey. Hokey. Cheesy. Hackneyed. But the Sara / Greg scene was worth it. They’re setting it up for when Sara leaves. You almost have to wonder if that line “I think, I think that I am sick of having my face shoved in death every day” comes just as much from Jorja as it does Sara.

Sara is just now - after more than a month - realizing what could have happened… what, has she been in shock the entire time? That doesn’t bode well for wedding plans. You’ll note that Greg is the first person to try and talk to her about the “Doll” events… no one else has tried. Totally, totally excellent scene.

The rest of the ep? Forgettable. Wooden characters, stilted dialogue, stereotyped situations… this is something I’d expect to see on MST3K, not “CSI:“. Looks like they hired Ronnie Lake for her tits… it definitely wasn’t for her brains. First she leaves her cell phone at the studio - which you knew she was going to do as soon as she put it down - and then she doesn’t get her credit card back from the guy at the gas station (hey, don’t show his face - that way you don’t have to pay him as much). Way too obvious what happened to the blonde… it didn’t take a detective to figure that out.

There were a few cute parts - Nick and Catherine commenting on weight (and the look she gives him), the dwarf hitting on Catherine… but the rest was standard schlock horror. Or maybe even sub-standard.

I don’t expect there to be a big Sara scene in next week’s ep either.
