You probably know the face more than the name. Alimi Ballard plays Detective Crawford (formerly Officer Crawford), seen recently in “Strip Maul.” He was back in “Exile” and will be working the case involving Sara Sidle in “Forget Me Not.”
In a recent interview with CSI Files, Ballard confesses that his wife thinks he looks much in a suit (I agree), how well he gets along with Nick, and what it was like working with Jorja.
Yeah, I knew what you were interested in.
CSI Files: With Captain Brass (Paul Guilfoyle) not in “Forget Me Not,” you find yourself as the detective on a case that involves Sara Sidle (Jorja Fox). Since the two characters don’t have a deep connection and long understanding of each other at this point in the series, unlike Brass and Sara, is there some conflict between the two of you? Sara does find herself in some serious trouble in the installment.
Ballard: The scenes I filmed with Sara in “Forget Me Not” are some of my favorites, Shane. There’s nothing like some good old fashion TENSION to get the grease poppin’. I cannot wait to see how they put it all together.
Can’t wait to see the tension on screen! You can read the whole interview on CSI Files – Interview: Alimi Ballard.
First off, he’s hot and he can stay.
Secondly, the more I’m hearing and seeing this morning, especially things coming from Shane … (comments to me like “cushioning the blow”) are forcing me to just prepare myself for things I don’t want to think about. And then that way, if I’m wrong the hurts will be easier.
I wish I didn’t care so much about fictional characters.
I preface this by noting I’m grumpy due to some people decided it’s my fault as to the status of GSR on CSI. Yeah, cause I’m totally in charge.
It’s a show. For fun and for drama. So it is what it is, and like Alimi said, there’s nothing as engaging as tension on a TV show. The ratings were so shitty (8 vs the 20s and 30s CSI used to get), that putting a little fire out there to get people watching is something that has to happen. Much of this is to get people watching!
Should we be worried? Well … I don’t know how this episode will end, so I can’t tell you. I know I’m excited to see what’s next, though.
Yes, you’re in charge? How did THAT one happen? Because really, that’s pretty impressive.
The reason I’m not an actual mess on the floor of my office right now is that I understand marketing and how it all works. Getting tension drummed up for the episode makes sense. Hell, you’ll get people back who haven’t watched in years with what they’re doing now. And yeah .. the show is there for fun. But for me, there were things about it that saved my life. When I got into the show, I was two steps away from walking into traffic (not kidding) and watching Sara battle through her issues helped to save my sanity. So there are emotional connections that are hard to separate.
I think for me, despite my passionate love for the Grissom and Sara romance, the hardest part for me is seeing the Sara character in such turmoil. Jorja’s acting skills are just shining this season and no matter what they do with Sara and Grissom (yes, sometimes relationships end) she is breaking my heart. And I love it and hate it at the same time.
But back to Ballard’s character … I really like the actor and I think I’m really going to like his character too.
The rating were only that high during Billy years though, weren’t they? Although I did find the cases considerably more captivating back then as well. If I started watching CSI this year I probably wouldn’t have got hooked at all.
They were only that high in the Billy AND Jorja years
Really they CSI used to average 18, and now hitting 8 is pretty crap.
I know that TV ratings are down across the board, but CSI needs to up its game marketing to the 20 somethings a bit. It’s too bad that people haven’t come back to the show because seasons 12 and 13 really have been wonderful. They remind me a lot of seasons 6 and 7 – just hard hitting storylines that are good case files. And they’re doing it without a serial killer. Maybe that’s what the show needs, a serial killer arc. Sadly, they shot themselves in the foot with Natalie because no other one, including Nate Haskell, has measured up to how creepy Natalie was. It was just brilliantly executed. But so many people I talk to have no idea the show is even around. Meanwhile, NCIS is getting all this publicity and the writing is so terrible ….
But that’s another rant all together.
Whoever is saying this is your fault is seriously mistaken! No way you could of prevented any of this or changed it in anyway than the rest of us could. No worries:)
I think y’all are right. A lot of this is just to get people watching & I hope it’s one of, if not the highest rated episode so far this season.
I’m way to emotionally attached & invested in these characters. I’m the first to point that out…. And I want Sara to be *happy! If they seriously think she can/will be happy if they brake up than….. (I can’t say do it though) And I was thinking, if they brake up, maybe it’ll be for something even better down the road. Like Jorja is saying ok brake us up, only if…….. Whatever it may be.
But I am NOT condoning it, I’m attempting to prepare myself for devistation. But it is 10000000% possible for them to fix this in other ways should they choose to spare the emotions of a world wide fandom the is 100% invested in the happy & safe well being of GSR;)
I care to much, and I think Shane is…. just messing. No way their braking up & the blow will be that he’s coming to Vegas. I hope I’m right. Uuuuuggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
I just think that we have to accept that they are likely breaking the couple up (or killing Grissom which is also a possibility by the way) and then be relieved if it does not happen. They obviously, as has been said so many times, cannot have Sara and Grissom married and in a long distance relationship forever. It would not be logical and Sara is too young and too emotionally deep a person (not to mention hot!) for that to happen indefinitely. Unless they have kept the biggest secret in years (that Billy is going to show up to be by Sara’s side) then I think they must be breaking them up. I hate it but it is television and not real life even if we do get incredibly invested in the characters.
Why do I get a very distinct feeling those tweets were written to get a rise out of GSr fans:) As well as those snippets and spoilers and all. They’re designed to provoke a reaction and instill some horrible thoughts, they more often than not turn out to be nothing like they wanted to sound like after an actual episode. Am I kidding myself?
And yes, I really do wish I didn’t care so much about fictional characters as well. And I don’t normally. But GSR is special.
Do you think there’s any chance of this being Jorja’s last season? Is this a climactic ending to Sara Sidle?
I think there’s more of a chance that I’m secretly the killer in this episode than this being Jorja’s last season.
I like those odds
Ipstenu, your killer comment cracked me up! Way to Go, girl.
Wish we had an applause icon here.
Eep! Feel a bit like I’ve been ganged up on here. Was only my second post…( and am only guessing on previous episodes in this season from reviews on here as I’m in Britian).
Nah, we’re just having fun
Unless the CBS peeps do something stupid (again), Jorja’s in it till the end.
Hi, Amy! Ipstenu runs the best Jorja board on the planet and we have the most fun. We also have the most angst.
