We’re getting closer! With just 2 weeks to go, we have a real chance at making it, too!

By the way, those who asked why I’m not offering incentives: my real job matches money I donate up to $2000 for any one charity, provided I meet certain criteria. Sadly, offering y’all incentive is one of the things I can’t do. But it does mean that my donation will be followed by a matched, anonymous, donation from the company. Personally, I thought that was more important.

First up, JAA is this close to the $1000 in 30 days they were hoping for. At $972 they’re doing an amazing job for Burma

Second up for JFO, we’re nearing $500 but we have another month to go. At $450, it ain’t chump change for Animal Acres.

And finally, our webmaster’s day-job is matching fund for hurricane relief in Burma, and she’s getting her office mates to drop some moolah for that as well. Total amount undisclosed since she’s taking the day off for her birthday.

About 30 Hollywood celebrities (including Jorja) will kick off a campaign Thursday to seek the release of Myanmar’s democracy icon Aung San Suu Kyi and push for freedom in the military-ruled nation.

I’ve put in a meter along the sidebar to give everyone a live status. It looks all pretty too, don’t it? Animal Acres seems to be leading the pack, which is probably due to Jorja and the Hoe Down. I set our ‘goal’ at a rather arbitrary $200. I’ll keep bumping that up as we get closer, since if we raise over $1000, we can actually name things for Jorja. Wouldn’t that be a hoot?

Please spread the word to every CSI community that allows this sort of advertising. This is not a JFO only event, this is for everyone who wants to wish Jorja happy birthday.

Please don’t send GIF files, as they will be deleted by my mail server. If you have a gif, I suggest posting it on tinypic.com and mailing the link. As always, hotlinking to JFO won’t work. Since we seem to be pro-animal this year, I’ve split the votes for either fundforanimals.org or animalacres.org (who had an astounding 50+ email votes! Yipes!). Winner takes all. Voting closes on the 30th of April, but donations will be open until July 1st, 2008.

Sadly due to US tax laws, I need everyone to use paypal this year. I know that crimps the students, and I do apologize, but my taxes were a mess this year and this is the simplest way for me to sort it out and avoid another audit. On the plus side, I have a merchant account with Paypal, which means a lot more security. I know a lot of people complain about Paypal, but I’ve been a member for 7 years and never had a problem.

At this time, JFO will not be supporting any campaign, protest or similar that has a goal of getting Jorja Fox to return to CSI, or urging CBS to re-hire her. Jorja’s leaving was her own decision and we support it whole-heartedly. As such, we ask that you not post comments to the blog about such things, or we will delete them. On JFO, we ask you respect Jorja’s choices.
