About Her TV Characters

Jump to: navigation, search

This FAQ is about the TV characters (recurring, regular and guest) that Jorja Fox has portrayed.

Why don't you have more information about the character's personal lives or their development?

While this site is more about Jorja the actor than her characters, I have been taking steps to add more information about her characters. I don't speculate on the characters because while Jorja plays them, she did not create them, nor does she write them.

That said, if you think I'm missing some character information, please feel free to send that information to webmaster@jorjafox.net

Who is Connie Karadzic?

Jorja Fox (credited as "Jorjan Fox" throughout the series) stared as Detective Constance (Connie) Karadzic, a twenty-something, committed cop on the defunct TV Show Missing Persons. The show lasted half a season on air.

Who is Dr. Maggie Doyle?

Dr. Maggie Doyle was a resident at Cook County Hospital. She was the recurring character Jorja Fox played on the TV show ER from 1993 through 1995. You will not see her on the current season of ER.

Was Maggie Doyle gay?

Yes. Maggie turned down Carter ("...you're great, funny, beautiful, too. I don't suppose you would --" "Not a chance."), and she had a toss away line to a deranged patient ("No meat, no men, I'm your woman."). Jorja Fox herself refers to Doyle fondly as "a vegetarian, gun-toting lesbian."

What does Doyled mean?

On the newsgroup alt.tv.er., people wanted to know if there was a term for characters who were once regulars and then vanished from sight but were mentioned occasionally? The term 'Doyled' gained favor and has henceforth been THE term for chars that are around ... somewhere.

5.372 I've seen some people on the Internet use the term "doyled" in reference to "ER". What does it mean?
On a.t.e., the always-effervescent catherine yronwode (who, by the way, came up with the funky thread title, "Creeping Bobbism"), said:
"I agree -- Hicks is around the hospital somewhere, not bobbed (yet) but Maggie was in so many episodes and was often shown in the locker/coffee room, so that i do consider her one the verge of having been bobbed. Or has she actually, truly been bobbed an i just don't realize it yet? Like ai [sic] asked before -- how long an absense must we witness before we realize that there is bobbery afoot?"
...and later, in that same thread, Marny Helfrich asked:
"...is there a term for characters who were once regulars and then vanish from sight but are mentioned occasionally?"
...thus, starting the Great Debate (ok, actually, a few folks just threw some terms around). After long, laborious hours of intense negotations in smoke-ridden coffee houses with much bloodletting occuring, terms like "demibob (for demicharacters)" by Rebecca McQuitty, or Scott's "quasi-bobbed" and "proto-bobbed" (my early favorite) were tossed aside like the redheaded stepchildren they are in favor of catherine yronwode's "Doyled"--as in:
"Was he Bobbed?"
"No, i think they're just Doyling him for the time-being."

Who is Gina Toscano?

Having made her debut on The West Wing on February 23, 2000, Jorja Fox played Secret Service Agent Gina Toscano. Special Agent Toscano is charged with watching the President's daughter, Zoey Bartlett. Zoey happens to be dating the President's Aide, Charlie.

Did Gina die in the shooting?

No. Gina was not killed in the shooting at the end of the first season (in the episode What Kind of Day has it Been), and was a guest star in both the first and second seasons of The West Wing. She was replaced by by Agent Wesley Davis (played by Taye Diggs).

Who is Sara Sidle?

Sara Sidle worked in the CSI (Crime Scene Investigation) unit of the Las Vegas police force (technically, the Cook County Sheriff's Department) for almost eight years, having transferred from San Francisco to help out her old friend, Gil Grissom. In the ninth season, she left for Costa Rica, and later was followed by Grissom.

She's the character Jorja Fox played on CSI.

Is it Sidel or Sidle?

Sidle. According to scripts, call sheets and CBS' CSI website, it's really Sidle. This was only a confusion because CBS and TV Guide had it listed as 'Sidel' for a while, as did Closed Captioning, however scripts had her listed as 'Sidle'. In the 12/22/2001 episode ("Sex, Lies and Larvae"), there's an envelope that is addressed to 'Sidle.' In the 02/22/2001 episode ("Table Stakes"), she writes her name as 'Sidle.'

Is Sara really dating Grissom?

Yes. Actually, they're married now!

Was Sara killed by the Miniature Crime Scene Killer?

No. Sara survived, however she left Las Vegas (and Grissom) a few months later, suffering from burnt out, stress, and a variety of other problems.

Will Sara be back?

After appearing on the ninth season of CSI as a guest character, Sara Sidle and Gil Grissom left the United States, got married, and went around from Costa Rica to Paris to Peru. As of Season 11, Sara splits her time between Vegas and wherever Gil is.

Wasn't Jorja on Law & Order?

Yes, she was. Jorja Fox (credited as "Jorjan Fox") appeared on the 5/5/1993 episode ("Securitate") as Paula Engren. She and a friend are on their way to a club when they're witness to a man being dragged behind a car. They call the cops, but remember no useful information.

Wasn't Jorja on Ellen?

On the now infamous 'Coming Out' episode of Ellen ("The Puppy Episode, pt. 2", 4/30/1997), Jorja Fox played the uncredited, unnamed, lesbian (cited as 'Attractive Woman' on casting sides) in the coffee house who walks up to Ellen, sits down next to her, smiles ... and proceeds to hit on Ellen's best friend (and good looking friend), Paige. To quote Ellen "Well, it's good to see some things never change."

Wasn't Jorja on Drop Dead Diva?

Jorja was on Drop Dead Diva as a soccer mom with a shockingly criminal past. It was pretty cute.
