CSI: Crime Scene Investigation (season 8)

Season eight started filming in August 2007. Over the summer, rumors of Jorja Fox not renewing her contract ran rampant, however by June, most sources were reporting that she was going to remain on the show. Most likely the rumors were started in order to create doubt that Sara Sidle would survive being trapped under a car. While Jorja did survive, she left the show after the seventh episode.
There was also a writers strike shortly after Jorja left, which caused a shortened season of only 17 episodes, forcing the writers to scrap any potential storylines with Jorja returning.
